A Map-Filled Teaching Room
There are a good variety of maps hanging on the walls of this room, as well as
copies of several treaties brokered between nations over the past several
hundred years. A small window looks out to the north over the roof of the
library and the garden walks. There are only a few chairs in the room, each
drawn up to the round table that stands in the center of the room. The floors
are made of plain wood and they are spotlessly clean. There is also a wooden
door that opens onto a hallway to the south.

This section of the room is just large enough to hold the table and six chairs
that surround it. Peeking out from beneath the legs of the chairs is a small

rows of benches.

Looking Down Two Hallways
White tiles the floor of both this hallway as it leads to the north and south
and the hallway that leads away to the west. From this vantage point, three
sets of ramps can be seen. Down the hall to the west there are two ramps, one
leading down and the other upwards. There is another ramp that leads upwards
from this hallway in which you are currently, just a short distance to the

northward, the hallway also makes a turn toward the east.

Along a White Corridor
This corridor is neither as wide nor as grand as many of the hallways found on
the floors below this level. It is simply tiled in white and the walls show no
decoration. It is spotlessly clean. To the east this hallway ends where it
intersects with another corridor that runs perpendicular, the white tiles
merging seamlessly with the white floors of that hallway. To the west the
hallway makes a turn to the south as it passes between two ramps, one curving
downwards and the other climbing to the next floor. A plain door made of a
light coloured wood faces onto the hallway from the north here.
[ Exits: n e w ]

21 (9) 84/84 37/47 81 front full defense> >Beside a Curving Ramp
The corridor curves here to the east and south, the plain white tiles leading
past equally plain, white stone walls. Two ramps flank this section of the
corridor. To the northwest is a ramp that descends to the floor below in a
graceful curve and to the southeast another ramp climbs higher into the Tower.
Both of the ramps are made of stone and have stone balusters edging them.

Bending Around a Curve
Solid white tiles on the floor curve seamlessly along with the pale stone walls
westward past several plain wooden doors and to the north past two ramps as the
corridor turns again. The white of the hallway is very crisp, if somewhat
monotonous, and creates the impression of spaciousness although the corridor is
not exceptionally wide, and indeed, is really rather narrow.

Two very plain doors face one another across the hallway. Both doors are

of the decor suggests that this is not an area much used by Aes Sedai.

Chilly draughts of air seem to particularly haunt this area, swirling around
and coming from both the north and the east at this cross-secting of corridors.
The draughts cause the flames in the lampstands to flicker and splutter. Grey
tiles lead away to the east and the circular-tiled pattern of this hallway
continues to the north and to the south. There is a door facing onto the
corridor from the west, directly opposite the entrance to the narrower hallway.

On Gray Tiles
Tiles the colour of an overcast sky are underfoot and cover the hallway to the
west as well as continuing onwards until the corridor ends to the south. A
stone ramp is off to the northwest and the corridor comes to an end there
between the rampway and the kitchens. To the east is a large room with
cloth-covered tables, looking to be a dining area for a good number of people.

the branching at the dining rooms.

Several mixing bowls stand in the center of the long table. To the east, soup
simmers in large copper kettles and the succulent smell of cooking roast drifts
from the grey fireplace off to the northeast. A hallway leads west to the
dining halls and other areas of the Tower.

The corridor turns sharply, leading to the east and to the south from here.
There is a tall standlamp mounted in the corner and hanging above a small,

In the Light of a Standlamp
Glowing brightly, a tall standlamp lights this section of the wide corridor.
The walls of the hallway, as it runs to the north, are mostly bare of decor
save a tapestry here and there. As the corridor turns to the west, a patterned
edging of raised, golden leaves begins high up on the walls and adds an elegant
touch to the corridor. The floor has a pretty pattern of expanding bands of
colour formed around a rich brown center. There are seven bands in all, each

A Ramp Spirals Upwards from the Corridor
Curving up and away from this corridor is a ramp of smooth, white stone. The
ramp leads first to the west and then curves gracefully back toward the east
where it joins with the floor above. The corridor continues past the ramp,
running north and south. The corridor is well lighted here, both from the
golden lampstands on the wall to the north and south and from the tulip-shaped
lantern lighting the rampwell.

An archway to the west shows a long tiled corridor leading away and just to the

The famed White Tower, after which this square was named, stands before you at
the northernmost edge of Tower Square, with its deep and broad steps leading up
to the glistening white edifice. The massive Tower Square, standing in the
heart of Tar Valon, spreads out to the south, east and west. Guards beside
broad gates can be seen controlling the flow of traffic into and out of the
Square. The Square itself is made of wide stones and carts and wagons rumble
across it, entering at one gate and exiting into another part of the city
through another. People, too bustles across it in large numbers, lending it a
noisy and somewhat festive air.

hundred feet above the square. It is made entirely of white stone and spans
three hundred feet across at its base. This great public square emphasizes the
deep, broad steps and massive doors of the Tower. Official public buildings

People throng this square, however, few venture close to the Tower's entrance,

the bottom edge curves in an upwards arch above the center of the road. Two
wide bronze-clad gates that, when closed, meet in the middle of the street and
can be heavily barred, stand open. A stone guardhouse has been built against
the side of the building to the west, and abutting the straight edge of the
lower section of wall along its roof. Several guards are stationed here,
checking the stream of people and wagons that seek to enter and exit the Tower
Square through this gate. Across the wide expanse of Tower Square to the
north, the White Tower of Tar Valon rises skyward, a gleaming white pillar that
towers over all of the surrounding buildings and the square itself.
Southward, the street leads away, passing shops and buildings.

Passing Through Tarolmen's Gate
Tarolmen's Gate stands between two large public buildings. A thick stone wall
has been built high up, connecting to the side of each building and spanning
the width of the street. The top edge of the wall is cut straight across, but
the bottom edge curves in an upwards arch above the center of the road. Two
wide bronze-clad gates that, when closed, meet in the middle of the street and
can be heavily barred, stand open.

Directly across the square is the amazing sight of the White Tower of Tar Valon
rising majestically into the sky. The square itself is huge and yawns out for
some distance northward before reaching the steps of the Tower. It extends to
the west and east as well, bordered by public buildings. Just to the south is
Tarolmen's Gate, through which one must pass to enter the street beyond. More
such gates lie off in the distance to the northeast and northwest. The square
is paved in large white stones that are set off with much smaller, reddish
stones, diamond shaped, and set where the corners of the white stones meet
around them. People throng the square, particularly along its edges.

The sight of the White Tower rising up into the sky directly across this wide
square is enough to take one's breath away. It is a tall, gleaming pillar of
white, massive in width and height. The depth and breadth of this square
serves to emphasize the broad stone steps that lead up to the wide doors of the
Tower. As the square continues to the south, it reaches Tarolmen's gate and
connects to one of the city streets beyond. Off to the east and west other
such gates serve to connect the square and the White Tower to the rest of the
city. The large white and smaller reddish stones pave this square in an
interesting pattern and emphasize its majesty.

In the center of this broad square, on the northern edge, stands the tallest
building made since the Breaking of the World, the White Tower of Tar Valon.
It rises five hundred feet into the sky, a glistening pillar of white stone.
People throng this square, however, few venture close to the Tower's entrance,
with most making their way along the edges of Tower Square and crossing its
center toward the southern end rather than the northern. Wide wide paving
stones cover the square's surface, with smaller diamond-shaped stones that have
a red hue to them inset between the corners of the connecting white stones.
The square spreads out in all directions.

This massive square is made up of large white slabs of stone with smaller
diamond-shaped reddish stones inset into the corners where the larger stones
mesh. The pattern of white and red is quite pleasing to the eye and the square
has the stamp of Ogier make upon it. To the north, the White Tower rises five
hundred feet above the square. It is made entirely of white stone and spans
three hundred feet across at its base. This great public square emphasizes the
deep, broad steps and massive doors of the Tower. Official public buildings
face onto the southwestern and southeastern edges of the square and there are
several broad gates connecting the square to the city streets of Tar Valon.

heart of Tar Valon, spreads out to the south, east and west. Guards beside
broad gates can be seen controlling the flow of traffic into and out of the
Square. The Square itself is made of wide stones and carts and wagons rumble
across it, entering at one gate and exiting into another part of the city
through another. People, too bustles across it in large numbers, lending it a
noisy and somewhat festive air.

chamber itself is very nearly round and it is impressive in size with a
flat-domed ceiling arching above smooth, pale stone walls. The floor of the

the stone by the passage of so many feet. On the opposite side of the chamber,

The doors are open and through them the Tower Square is visible from here.
The wide corridor heading northward from this point is crossed by another just

The floor here is tiled in a background of white with a mosaic depicting the
Flame of Tar Valon. The Flame in the center is tiled in white as well,
