Not even the walls of this expansive room are left unmarred; the once 
smooth,
stone walls are now riddled with deep furrows gouged out by claws.  Blood

skin trophies wash the walls with pain and radiate a putrid stench.  There 
are
bones and skulls stacked within the cold fireplace, overflowing the space 
and
scattering upon the hearth.  An arched doorway lies to the north, opening 
out
into the shadows.

A great window framed in red, threadbare curtains is set in the west wall,
dominating most of the wall.  The window, like all other windows in the 
manor
is sealed by planks of timber.  The walls framing the window are ink-black 
and
polished to a high, yet strangely, light-absorbing lustre.  The ceiling is
vaulted with many cold, fang-like lamps hanging from it.  An arched,
beam-supported doorway stands to the south, and is the only door not nailed
shut.  East, the wide corridor runs into deep, cold darkness.

A white haired old man wanders slowly into view from the west.

peers at you questioningly.

A short man in a dark cloak, only 
his face is exposed.  And what you are able to
see has a jagged scar running down his face to be hidden by a long white 
beard.
The scar has turned his right eye to a milky cloud, his eyes hold the same 
mirth
as the rest of his bearing.  Almost as if he has seen something funny others 
have
not yet they also hold something that can only be called knowledge, the
penetrating gaze of wisdom.

Suddenly, a noise causes you to scan the room for some intruder, then before 
you realize it, the old man is gone.

has been spending too much time wrestling behind a barn.  So much so in

that his frail form looks like it is held up entirely by the dirt.

Running east and west, this long, dark corridor leads into darkness.  
Shadows
hang thick in the air, shrouding everything under their dark cloak.  Coming
from the east, a ghostly wind current roams the corridors of the manor.  
There
are arched doorways leading north and south, but the passages are sealed off 
by
planks of tightly nailed timber.

At the Entrance of a Dark Manor
The tattered remains of banners and tapestries drift with ghostly motion as
cold breezes are funneled through the dark-stone walls of the passageway.  
The
stone walls of the passageway are raven-black and smooth, yet seem to absorb
light rather than reflect.  As you move, your feet clock against the hard,
marble floor; the echoes resonating down into the recesses of the manor.  A
doorway barbed with a thick, black-iron door lies to the north, while the
passageway leads east into deeper darkness.

Before a Shrouded Manor
Shadow is cast in every direction, but the light source is unseen.  The air 
is
mistily cold, and blankets the ground with a veil of fog.  Looking around, 
you
see great trees, each tree three paces thick and entwined with thorn-armed
vines.  Ivy and thorn-bushes create thick barricades around you, sealing off
any passage west and east.  A manor stands to the south, but details are 
vague
as most of the manor is shrouded in deep immersing darkness and riddled with
snaking vines.

The Rustling Woods
The ground is higher here than that to the north and west.  Though not a 
large
difference, it is enough to raise the treetops higher into the passing wind.
The breeze constantly blows through them, producing the sounds of a gentle
rain.  Small animals scurry underneath the fallen leaves, and the occasional
bird hops about as well, looking for its next small meal.

The Tar Valon Road at the Base of a Grassy Hill
At the base of a small grassy hill, the northern horizon is totally blotted
out.  The hill is covered with knee-high grasses, which ripple in graceful
waves with the passing breezes.  The handful of trees decorating it are
weathered, stunted sentinels, their twisted branches seeming to mar the
landscape's beauty rather than enhance it.  Thicker and more vibrant trees
stand to the south, east and west, surrounding the road before you in a haze 
of
green like an enveloping fog.  The dense mass is the Braem Woods, and it 
covers
much of northern Andor.

A Short Grey-Tiled Hallway
This short section of hallway connects to a much wider corridor to the west 
and
to the east it joins another hallway that runs parallel to the wider 
westward
corridor.  Grey tiles cover the floor of this hall but a colourful tapestry
hangs on the wall opposite a large, carved door that faces the hallway from 
the
south.  The hallway is rather draughty here.  From the east comes the dimly
heard clattering of pots, pans and china.

The room is warmly decorated with a thick rug patterned in muted greens,
yellows and blues on the floor and a wide desk set facing away from the
fireplace in the western wall.  There are two chairs set before the desk and

cushioned armchair behind it.  The walls are decorated with tapestries and
paintings.  On the desktop there is a large, bound book holding many pages.
In the corner by the fireplace, a rather wicked looking willow switch leans
against the wall.

as well.

Green tilted eyes have a sharp look to them as she strides along.  Her nose 
is
rather bold and her flaming red hair makes something of a halo about her 
face.
The combined effect of hair and eyes is striking and a little bit odd..  She
has the ageless features characteristic of a woman who can wield the One 
Power.

with a knife to her throat. I would request you to lead the rescue.'

You say, 'The kitchens you say?'

along with delicious smells of cooking and baking and, through the open
doorway, many young girls can be seen scurrying to and fro busily.  The
corridor continues on past the kitchens to the west and to the east it 
passes
between two ramps before turning southward.  On the floor, concentric 
circles
of tiles extend outwards from a white center like ripples in a pond, each 
ring
of tile a different colour.  There are seven different rings in all, 
including
the center, representing the seven Ajahs of the White Tower.

At the Entrance to the Kitchens
The kitchen is massive and needs to be if it is to produce enough food to 
feed
all of those in the White Tower.  Grey stone tiles cover the floor and 
pantries
and sculleries ajoin the kitchen.  Off to the east is a large fireplace made 
of
grey stone and in another corner of the kitchen, soup kettles simmer above
kettle-fires.  A long table is just to the south, where much of the meals 
are
prepared.  Northward from here a wide hallway passes by.

Laras taps a clean wooden spoon against her thigh, watching over the 
kitchen.
Ryhan the warder enters from the north.

Laras says, 'No men in my kitchen! And what are you doing in this section of 
the Tower anyway?'

Laras says, 'I see I may have to call one of the Tower guards to escort you 
out of doors. Out of the Tower on the instant!'

Laras grabs you by the arm and escorts you out of the kitchen.

This area of the scullery is filled with dishes, cups, pots and pans, all of
them dirty.  Several large tubs rest on a wide table, each holding stacks of
dishes in one, cups in another, pots and pans in a jumble within a third.
Several dinner trays also rest on the table with the remains of meals still 
on
the dishes.  A large bin sits next to the table on the floor into which
leftovers are scraped and discarded.  Off in the northern section of the
scullery is the washing-up area.

them stand pitchers filled with more water to replace the old when it

too full of grease and muck to properly clean the dishes.  Wooden dishracks 
are
built in layers against the wall and will hold upwards of a hundred freshly
cleaned dishes and cups at a time.  To the south, dirty dishes are stacked 
in
tubs and on trays waiting their turn to be cleaned.

In Flickering Lamplight
No windows line this long, tiled hallway and the only light here comes from 
the
flickering standlamps against the walls.  Standlamps are further along the
walls to the west and east but none are positioned to cast light directly 
along
this section of the corridor, and thus light and shadows play tag along the
tiled floors and the pale walls.  The floor is tiled in a pretty design,
circular rings of colour extending out from a grey center.  From the east, 
the
smell of baking bread and roasting meat drifts along on a slight draught,
titillating the appetite.
